Michael Seymour, CME has been in custom exhibit sales since early 1979, and currently is a Senior Vice President at 3D Exhibits in Elk Grove Village, IL. The driving force behind Michael’s career is his insatiable desire for education. He initially learned everything that he could about exhibit marketing from his colleagues, and later from the International Exhibitors Association (which later became TSEA) and TS2.

Many of the friends and contacts that Michael made were through mentoring and networking. These contacts helped Michael keep current with industry advice, trends, and information, and fueled his need for even more knowledge. To this day, networking is one of the key components to Michael’s success.

Once Michael was exposed to the International Exhibitors Association and realized the need for a local chapter in Chicago, he teamed up with a colleague and the two started what has since become TSEA’s most successful chapter, the Windy City Chapter

When I asked Michael about the factors that have contributed to the Windy City Chapter's success, he replied, "The chapter has been great largely because the operating council listens to the members, and is very creative in creating the education and events that our members want and need. It is also a testament to the incredible sponsors we have who provide the financial support for the chapter. Our group needs to bring value to their investment."

With his involvement within the industry and continuing quest for knowledge on the latest and greatest strategies and results, Michael began to develop educational content and started speaking at TS2 and Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) . There doesn’t seem to be an industry educational opportunity in which he has not participated. He wants to share what he has learned with all who will listen.

Michael has spent three terms on TSEA’s Board of Directors, and also serves on the HCEA's Board of Directors, and on other committees supporting education and improving the industry overall for both associations. He balances his career and industry involvement with daily exercise as well as spending as much time as he can helping his wife raise his two teenage boys, and his love of the latest alternative music. He has a small group of friends who receive his “playlists” on a somewhat regular basis, always sharing his musical “finds”. Just seems he is sharing something worthwhile all the time.
