Making Most Of Your Membership
You get from TSEA what you put in. When I joined TSEA almost 20 years ago, I found a community of professionals who love their work as much as I do. And through the years, via seminars, programs, teaching and just plain networking, I’ve made a ton of friends. But there’s more to TSEA than that.
What can you do to get as much from TSEA as I did? It’s simple. Get involved.
- Help the Association: We’re always looking for people to serve on our committees. Yes, there’s a time-commitment involved, but you’ll really like the other people there. We also need members to serve on the Board of Directors. Don’t wait to be asked – call us or email and volunteer today.
- Share Your Expertise: We need webcasts and podcasts for our new e-Learning center. You’re good at your job; help teach others who are new to the industry. Or present a webinar in one of our three tracks: Tradeshow 101; CME; or General Interest. Start today by submitting a topic.
- Go for Your CME: Our CME Certification indicates a level of expertise that companies value. In a recent study, those with certifications earned as much as $10K a year more than those without the initials after their names. Sign up today and get started collecting your CEUs (Continuing Education Units).
- Help your Local Chapter: If you have a chapter, go to meetings, get on the planning committee, come up with new ideas for chapter events. If you don’t have a chapter, contact us about getting one started in your area. And no matter what, you can attend chapter events in any city if you’re there for a show!
- Use Us as a Resource: If you need answers, we have them. And if we don’t have the answer, we know who does. Call us or check the website for articles, e-books, and downloadable podcasts and webcasts.
- Take Advantage of All the Free Benefits We Offer: There’s lots of stuff for free on our website. And if you’re an Allied member, send in your copy for the free coupons distributed to all new members.
- Save Your Company Money: Check out our member benefits. Lots of companies offer discounts to TSEA members.
- Networking: Join discussions in person or on-line. All our events – chapter meetings, TS2, webinars, the Master’s, Emerging Leaders – are opportunities to interact with your peers. You learn and teach at the same time because you have skills or ideas or knowledge to share as do they! On-line, join our forum at tsea.org or our LinkedIn group. Start discussions; ask questions; share.
John F. Kennedy, in his inaugural speech, said, “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.” TSEA membership is a two-way street and, unlike JFK, we want to do for you and for you to do for us. So ask away – we’re here for you. And, on your side, offer to help. We’ll accept.
Thank you for your support of TSEA,
Margit B. Weisgal, CME
President and CEO
