SAN FRANCISCO – (April 15, 2008) Nick’s Cove, the beloved Tomales Bay cabins and restaurant lovingly restored by Pat Kuleto and re-opened in 2007 after an eight-year renovation process, has unveiled its exceptional meetings and events spaces. The distinctive spaces, distinguished by spectacular views of Tomales Bay and the serenity of surrounding West Marin, offer an extraordinary venue for events for 10-100 guests. The antidote to stuffy and uninspiring conference rooms, Nick’s Cove is a breath of fresh air for events such as board of director meetings, intimate wedding receptions or rehearsal dinners, family reunions, or executive retreats.
The Boat Shack – perched at the end of a 400-foot pier on Tomales Bay – accommodates 16 people seated or 25 for a standing reception. Characterized by peace and privacy and a rustic tranquility, the Boat Shack feels a million miles away from the bustle of modern life. Surrounded by fresh air and water, which help to clear the mind and get the creative juices flowing, an event at the Boat Shack will leave meeting guests feeling invigorated and motivated or provide an unforgettable setting for a special occasion.
For a larger gathering, perhaps an office retreat, anniversary, reunion or other family celebration, the Back Porch at Nick’s Cove accommodates 60 people seated or 75 for a standing reception. With 180-degree views of Tomales Bay, Hog Island and Heart’s Desire Beach across the way, the Back Porch is the ultimate events space with an indoor/outdoor vibe. On the water’s edge, completely enclosed and heated, the Back Porch provides a perfect vantage point from which to watch the sun setting over the Point Reyes Seashore horizon.
In addition to the unrivalled setting and scenery, Nick’s Cove’s award-winning culinary team will indulge event guests with their catering, from a platter of local oysters for an afternoon snack all the way to a formal sit-down three, possibly, five-course meal, sampling the local bounties of Tomales Bay and Marin County, complete with locally-caught fish, locally-raised meat, locally produced/harvested dairy products and produce – even wine sourced from a select group of Marin and Sonoma Counties’ boutique wineries.
Nick’s Cove is dedicated to minimizing its impact on the environment, with an extensive “green” program which includes supporting sustainably grown, organic produce and responsible animal husbandry, extensive kitchen composting of vegetable scraps, as well as recycling, water conservation and energy efficiency.
Guests are able to take over Nick’s Cove with a buyout, accommodating a maximum of 130 people.
The new Nick’s Cove & Cottages features 12 luxury suites located on or over the water, docking for local fishermen, and the fully restored Nick’s Cove restaurant.
Located just over an hour’s drive from San Francisco, the Nick’s Cove site is gently nestled on the east shore of Tomales Bay, long celebrated as one of the California coast’s most spectacular settings. Ideally situated along the Pacific flyway and next to the Point Reyes National Seashore preserve, the Nick’s Cove site is just south of Bodega Bay’s famed fishery, home to steelhead, coho, herring, striped bass, sturgeon, halibut, and more – and of course a wide variety of the delicious oysters, from Drake’s Bay to Hog Island, for which the area has long been famed. The possibilities for company activities such as teambuilding exercises are boundless - surrounded by pristine, protected forest land, the area is a haven for pursuits such as horseback riding, hiking, bird watching, cycling, mushroom foraging, wind surfing, kayaking, picnicking, and fishing.
Nick’s Cove seaside cottages each feature an array of site-inspired amenities, including over-the-water or water-view deck, wood-burning stove, heated bathroom floors, claw foot bath tubs and European marble bath tiles, antique furnishings, high-thread-count linens, hidden flat panel TV, satellite XM radio, hypo-allergenic pillows, and in-room spa and massage services.
