In today’s changing economy things happen quickly. A seemingly financially sound company today could be pad locking the doors tomorrow. With this said, employees should always have an updated resume ready to be fired off at a moment's notice.
When updating your resume make sure that you not only spell out your job description, but also describe the size (in dollars) of the projects that you’ve designed, managed, sold, etc. This give prospective employers a better understanding of your capabilities in order to help them staff their departments more efficiently. Also, employers in our industry prefer a chronological resume format. This means begin with your most recent employer and end with your first. Lastly, avoid going back further than 1980 in your professional experience.
