TSEA has made changes to the application process for its CME® program. Changes were made to assist the association in streamlining the application process for the certification. The modifications are as follows:
 |
 |
- Submitting the application is now the first step in earning your certification. Once applications are approved, candidates will have 60 days to complete the critical analysis/case study portion of the application process.
- CME candidates are now required to submit two critical analyses during the CME application process: one essay focusing on tactical and logistical terms, and the other focusing on more strategic endeavors. Example case studies are available in the CME-only section on www.tsea.org.
- In the College/University section on the application, the “Other University Education” category has been removed and replaced with a new “University/College Certification Program” category. Also, points will now only be awarded to applicants who have completed advanced degree programs.
- In section E on the application, “Other Exhibit-Related Conference Participation,” a “Trade Show Only does not apply” sentence has been added to the category. Additionally, rather than a blanket 3 points, applicants will receive 1 point per day of programming attended.
- CME candidates are now required to earn 50% of their Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from TSEA and the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association, which endorses the certification program. Under new guidelines, candidates will not be required to breakdown their CEUs by category on their applications.
- In section H (Exhibit-Related Public Speaking) and I (Exhibit-Related Articles Published), applicants will now be required to submit materials for external public speaking roles, and articles not published internally in company publications.
- Sections K (Service/Recognition Within TSEA) and L (Other Exhibit-Related Criteria) have been combined into one section so that applicants can receive points for activities outside of TSEA.

 |
Candidates enrolled in the program prior to the changes will have until March 31, 2006 to complete the certification under the previous guidelines. Candidates may also elect to submit using the new application.
