Frequently Asked Questions
Enrolling
Who should enroll in the CME program?
The CME certification program was developed for exhibitors by exhibitors. If you participate in trade shows as a marketing medium, CME certification is for you. It’s an opportunity to gain in-depth experience and job knowledge, expand your peer network and open new doors to your career.

How long does it take to become a CME?
From start to finish, it takes approximately three years to obtain your CME.

How much does it cost to become a CME?
A one-time enrollment fee of $100 for TSEA & HCEA members and a $150 fee for non-members is required. There are no additional costs, no transcript fees and no hidden costs. We track your TSEA credits for free.
Getting Started
How do I get started once receiving the CME application?
Focus on areas of the application that require MINIMUM points, such as CEU’s and job experience.

How many CEU’s do I need to complete the CME?
You need a MINIMUM of 7 CEU points. 1 CEU equals 10 hours. Programs offered through TSEA count as double points. Click CME Application Help for a further break down of the CME application and point requirements.

What happens once I send in my completed CME application?
Your application is reviewed for accurate completion in our offices and then forwarded to an impartial committee of your peers. The committee reviews and evaluates the contents of each CME application. A majority vote from the CME committee is required for granting the CME credential.
Benefits
What makes CME different over other certification programs?
The CME certification is unique in that its criteria is based on the exhibits industry in its entirety. Individuals receive credit for their contributions to the exhibit industry as well as continuing education, professional development and peer recognition.

CME does not lock you into a rigid course structure. It is the most flexible and relevant certification program for exhibit managers. It allows you to focus on your job while earning your certification.

TSEA accepts CEUs from all industry events, such as HCEA, not just those issued by TSEA. However, CEUs earned through TSEA programs are worth double.

How do I benefit personally from enrolling in the CME program?
From the moment you enroll in the CME program you begin enjoying the benefits of peer networking as you join an elite group of individuals also enrolled in the program as well as those who hold CME certification. Gain instant recognition and credibility while enhancing your networking.
Maintaining Your Certification
Do I have to recertify?
You will need to recertify for your CME once every five years. Please see our Recertification Information page for further detailed requirements.
