Hello,

As I write this, sure signs of spring abound. We moved into daylight savings time, the temperatures around Chicago reached into the 60s (the warmest it has been in many months), and the show season is well under way. It’s the time of rebirth and growth. For your association, it is also the time when many programs spring forth, so please read on to see our new buds blooming.

This electronic publication is just one of many examples of the flowering of TSEA. Magazines are great (I have a pile of them to read), but E&E Professional will be your source for news. In a week or so you will be asked to complete a media survey (online) that will assist us in getting you the news and features you want. We’ve got some new ideas that need your input too. Please complete the survey when you see it.

The change of seasons also brings forth the next edition of our award winning publication About Face—The Journal of Face-to-Face Marketing. The second issue mails early next week; keep your eyes peeled because it’s a great read! As with the last issue, we are sending copies to you and to about 1,000 Vice Presidents of Marketing of the largest companies. Spreading the good word is what we do.

We also know it’s spring because we’ve been preparing for our booth at Exhibitor 2007 in Las Vegas. If you will be there, please do stop by our booth (#573 at the end of the 500 aisle), chat with us and register for a number of prizes. We are also offering new members $50.00 off their annual dues. If you want to extend your membership another year, we’ll pass that offer on to you too. Even if your renewal date isn’t until next January, you can extend another year and take the discount.

The theme of our booth is “TSEA is the Best Kept Secret.” Unfortunately, what we provide (membership features and benefits) is not well-known to the tens of thousands of exhibit managers out there. We must do a better job and you can help. Please join our Ambassador Corps. We’ll supply you with a portfolio of materials with which you can spread the good word to your co-workers and especially to those around you at your shows. Ambassadors get tangible rewards too. You can earn “Show Bucks” which can be “spent” on TSEA programs and products.

Some of the items you can buy with your Show Bucks (or regular currency for that matter) can be found at our new bookstore. In about 30 days there will be a long list of books and materials that can be purchased online at TSEA.org. Buying from us helps TSEA financially AND members get both a 10 percent discount on all books and free shipping to any address in North America. If you are an author, please let us know so that your book can be featured in the “Books by Members” section.

Might you know of a student of marketing who could use a $1,000 scholarship and an expense paid trip to TS2 (Washington DC July 30 – August 2) to intern with the TSEA staff? The TSEA Educational Foundation has posted the annual Roger LaForte Scholarship competition. Go to www.tsea.org/page_216.php for scholarship information and the application.

Prizes abound at TSEA. The 2007 Focus™ Awards are coming. This is the time to nominate your exhibit or that of your client for this very prestigious recognition. We’ll be sending you (via email) the package in about two weeks. And if your company wants to receive some great recognition and attention, consider being a sponsor of the 2007 Focus™ Awards. For sponsorship information, please contact Diane Rouse at drouse@tsea.org for details.

And the last, but still very important, spring-time activity is our Board of Director’s meeting where we nominate members to serve on committees and on the Board itself. Being active in TSEA is great fun and the comaraderie that quickly develops is definitely worth the small amount of work.

So, do take a moment out of your very busy schedule and enjoy the spring!
