The Roger D. LaForte Scholarship was started by the TSEA Foundation
in 2002 and recognizes future leaders in exhibit and event marketing.
Chicago, Ill. – July 7, 2007 – Emily Burger, a student at Columbia College Chicago, has been awarded the 2007 Roger D. LaForte Scholarship, announced TSEA Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the TSEA Foundation Arthur Veale, CME®, CTSM. In addition to a cash scholarship, Burger was also awarded the opportunity for an internship at the TSEA-sponsored annual conference and exhibition, TS2® – The Industry Event for Exhibit and Event Professionals, which was held July 31 – August 2, 2007, in Washington, DC.
The scholarship, named after the late industry leader Roger D. LaForte, CME®, was created to encourage higher education in the field of exhibit management, develop qualified industry professionals, and create greater academic awareness of this career field.
“TSEA is proud to award the Roger D. LaForte scholarship to a future leader of the exhibit and event marketing industry,” says Veale. “Having worked with Emily through TSEA, I know that Roger would be honored to present this award to an outstanding student such as Emily, because he was always willing to share his knowledge and resources with others. We wish Emily the best of luck with her future endeavors.”
Burger is pursuing a degree in Marketing, and has a strong interest in exhibition management. Upon graduation, she will devote her time to learning about and advocating for the exhibition industry. She was acknowledged during the TS2® Opening Session on July 31, 2007, and will also receive hands-on experience while assisting behind the scenes at TS2®.
