While walking around IAEE’s Expo! Expo! show in December, the sight of Willie Nelson stopped me in my tracks. Could it be? Unfortunately, it was not, in fact, the real Willie Nelson, but a very good look-alike. ARI, a full-service lead retrieval and registration service, outdid themselves with their western-style ranch house and fence. Inside their booth, they offered Polaroid photos with "Willie Nelson" as a souvenir. For refreshments they offered chocolate cake, bottled water and 12 oz. bottles of beer. They also gave out wooden chips with the ARI logo.
This was undoubtedly one of the most creative booths I have seen. The staff was a joy to talk with; they were not the typical sales people, trying to schmooze each individual who entered. Instead, they chatted with light banter about whatever the attendee desired. It was a place to hang out in the center of the show: an unofficial tavern. Congrats ARI! I nominate you for the best booth at IAEE Expo! Expo! It is just too bad I wasn't an actual judge.
