Reed Exhibitions Acquires Leading Paper Industry Event in Russia

Reed Exhibitions has announced the acquisition of PAP-FOR, the international paper industry exhibition from E. J. Krause and Associates, who established the event in 1992.

Held biennially, nearly 12,000 attendees and more than 300 exhibiting companies attended the 2006 event. PAP-FOR will next be held at Lenexpo, St, Petersburg, Russia from November 10th until November 13th, 2008. With ten months to go, the event is well advanced in exhibitor reservations and is expected to surpass 2006 results significantly.

PAP-FOR holds a market-leading position as a “must-attend” event for the industry and is set to take advantage of the healthy growth outlook for the sector in Russia, with new capital investments announced to expand manufacturing capacity over the next 10 years.

Mike Rusbridge, Reed Exhibitions’ Chairman, commented: “The pulp and paper sector is set for growth as the Russian economy expands and we are pleased to bring the market-leading PAP-FOR into the Reed portfolio. This represents another important step in our investment in Russia and Eastern Europe as part of Reed’s emerging market strategy.”

PAP-FOR will be owned and operated internationally by Vienna-based Reed CEE GmbH and run locally in Russia by OOO Reed Elsevier, under license. Olga Elson will continue to be the Project Director for the event, supported by Reed Exhibitions’ International Sales Group covering all major exporting markets.

Reed Exhibitions Acquires Leading Beauty Events in Russia

Reed Exhibitions announced the acquisition of the InterCHARM shows in Moscow, formerly owned by Russian organizer Staraya Krepost. The InterCHARM events are the leading beauty exhibitions in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.

The market for the beauty sector in Russia reached US$7.8bn in 2006 and has experienced double-digit growth in the recent years. Analysts predict that this trend will continue for years to come.

InterCHARM is now in its 15th year and will next be held October 23-26, 2008 at the modern Crocus Expo, Moscow, Russia. The 2007 event was the largest yet, with 876 exhibitors from 29 countries exhibiting products and services featuring cosmetics and perfumery, nail and hair care and accessories, spa products, salon services and equipment, training schools, bath care, baby care, male grooming products, packaging and niche brands. 100,000 visitors attended the exhibition and its featured events: the Russian Nail Design Championship, YOU Professional Show, Moscow International Make-up Championship and Russian Beauty Salons Convention.

InterCHARM Professional 2007 is a focused event covering professional cosmetic brands, equipment for beauty salons, nail studios, hairdressers and other beauty institutions, professional hair and nail care products and accessories, plastic surgery instruments and services, solariums, tanning apparatus, aromatherapy, colorings, hairdresser and fitness studios, products for SPA salons, SPA facilities etc. The exhibition is supported by an extensive program of training events and workshops. In 2007, 346 companies exhibited at the show with a visitor attendance of almost 45,000. InterCHARM Professional will next be held at Crocus Expo in April 17-19, 2008.

The InterCHARM exhibitions in Russia are of high quality and can benefit further from being part of the world’s leading exhibition organizer; they will be able to take advantage of Reed Exhibitions’ value-adding standards, exhibition technologies and international networking.

Gregory Zaraisky, Reed Exhibitions’ Managing Director in Russia, commented, “it is particularly encouraging that, as the result of recent acquisitions, our team in Russia was joined by a group of extremely talented people which ensures Reed’s long term success in Russia”.

Many of the existing exhibition teams have already joined a new subsidiary in Russia, OOO Reed-SK, taking the number of employees in Reed Exhibitions’ businesses in Russia up to 40.

This is the third acquisition of exhibitions in Russia in less than 12 months, following that of market-leading Security and Safety Technologies (SST) and Pap-For, the leading international paper exhibition in Eastern Europe. The focus on acquisitions in Russia is a sign of Reed Exhibitions’ commitment to this fast growing market. As a result, Reed Exhibitions’ event portfolio in Russia has now grown to 10 exhibitions.

Fiero Milano and Reed Sign Agreement
(Article originally appeared on www.expofairs.com.)

Fiera Milano S.p.A. signed an agreement with Reed Exhibitions for the early dissolution of the joint venture in the Fiera Milano International S.p.A. company.

Fiera Milano S.p.A. owns 53% of the share capital of Fiera Milano International, while the remaining 47% is owned by Reed Exhibitions Italia S.r.l., a company wholly controlled by the Reed Elsevier Plc Group.

The agreement made by the parties envisages early dissolution of the joint-venture agreement. Consequently, exhibitions belonging to the Reed Group—currently managed by Fiera Milano International in the form of rental of company branches—will revert to management by the owner. The Reed exhibitions currently managed by Fiera Milano International are Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (biennial), Visual Communication, and Infosecurity.

The early dissolution of the joint venture took place on January 15. At the same time, Fiera Milano acquired 47% of Fiera Milano International, currently owned by Reed. Fiera Milano International will continue to manage the exhibitions pertaining to the Fiera Milano Division, namely MACEF Primavera, MACEF Autunno, Festivity, Miart, Chibidue-Chibimart Estate, Chibimart Autunno, Lift, and IKME.

Fiera Milano and Reed have confirmed their interest in business co-operation. In regards to this, they have decided to extend the space rental contract for Mostra Convegno Expocomfort exhibition currently hosted by the Milanese site until at least 2022.
